Ukraine's energy systems have faced escalating strikes in recent weeks

Overnight, Moscow's aerial assaults have resulted in power cuts in large parts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Meanwhile, a seven-year-old child was fatally injured in a distinct Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southern area, based on information from local officials.

Russian forces has intensified attacks on power infrastructure over recent weeks, while Ukrainian leadership has demanded "real steps" from partner nations to exert influence on Russia.

"What's needed is not symbolic gestures but firm measures - from the US, the EU and the G7 - in supplying protection systems and enforcing sanctions," was stated in a online statement.

Officials stated that numerous aerial vehicles and more than 30 missiles attacked Ukraine's energy infrastructure, labeling such strikes as "strategic and deliberate" and against "essential services" as the weather cools.

The energy minister said Russia was "launching a major assault" and maintenance teams were striving to repair systems.

A barrage of missiles damaged energy infrastructure and apartment buildings in the capital.
